What Is Otoplasty?
Otoplasty refers to surgery that is designed to change the shape and size of the outer ears. In most cases, an incision is made right behind the ear. This incision allows our plastic surgeon to remove some of the cartilage. Soft tissue may also be removed and reshaped. If necessary, the ear can be pinned back on the head in order to stop the ear from protruding. Then the incision is closed with sutures.
The great thing about having this surgical procedure performed is that you are not likely to have any visible scarring. The incisions that are made are very small. Additionally, they are made in creases and areas where they can easily be hidden.
