Hymenoplasty

What Is Hymenoplasty And Why Is It Done?

Hymenoplasty is the surgical procedure of hymen repair. The hymen is a symbol of virginity and sexual purity, and many countries and customs still demand that a bride has an intact hymen on her wedding night. In some countries and cultures, the bride may actually be in physical jeopardy if it is discovered that she is not pure, as evidenced by an intact hymen. This is not necessarily true, because the hymen may not always break during sex at first, depending on how much of the membrane is covering the vaginal opening and the penis size, and babies have been born with the mother’s hymen still intact at the beginning of the birth process. The hymen is just a thin circle of tissue, which may be full or may only cover part of the vaginal opening, from just a sliver to almost complete coverage.

The hymen is attached to the hymeneal ring, which is a circular structure of muscles and membrane. Even an intact hymen has to have some type of opening to outside the vagina, for menstrual blood and discharge to leave your body. Repairing your hymen is a simple procedure that only takes an hour or so to do, and can have numerous benefits. A hymenoplasty can repair your hymen so that to all physical requirements you are a virgin again, with your hymen intact. Cultural or religious reasons are not the only reason that women elect to have this procedure done. It is common, especially in America, for women to have almost as much, if not an equal amount, of experience as men do when it comes to sex and intimate relations. Some women have this procedure done to make their wedding night special, and to be able to offer their husband, no matter what number it is, the opportunity to have this special surprise.

Having hymen repair surgery done is a simple and easy procedure. You will usually receive a sedative and a local anesthesia before the procedure. The hymenoplasty involves taking a piece of the mucous membrane that lines your vagina and using this to create the hymen structure. This procedure produces an authentic hymen that is indistinguishable from the naturally occurring hymen. After your recovery, in about six weeks, intimate relations can occur and there is no way for your partner to know you have had this surgery unless you choose to tell them.

Hymenoplasty surgery can be a simple and convenient way to get your hymen back, for whatever reason you desire. There is a recovery time of six weeks, and for the first few days to a week you may not be able to do your usual daily activities. You can not use a tampon, lift anything heavy, or exercise vigorously for three weeks either, to prevent any complications such as injury to the surgical site, infection, or bleeding. Just like with any surgical procedure, there is a very small risk of complications that could occur, but these can be minimized even further by choosing a highly trained and experienced surgeon and a state of the art outpatient surgery center.
