An interesting comment by a woman I was talking with. We were chatting about vaginoplasty after 60yo. After menopause some dryness occurs and the laxity of tissues is also prevalent in the vaginal and labial tissues. No woman likes that laxity in feel or look. This laxity also reduces libido or complete satisfaction from sexual intercourse. We were chatting about how lucky women are who live in the west part of the world where women have equality so to speak and some independence to choose what they want to do. So many come for vaginoplasty or labiaplasty and mons pubis reduction and other cosmetic procedures. In the East women are much more repressed and in some countries they have to cover themselves as well and have no rights of any choice. The woman who is 60+ was very happy to have this conversation with me. She felt that for once she could talk about these things openly. She said, as we all know, that even tho we are not repressed and have the freedom of choice here -when a 60 year old woman speaks of vaginoplasty, eyebrows are lifted. The thought is why would this old woman want to have better sex, after all she is over the hill. Well, she is not. The problem is that as women get older the doctors are so much younger, as the older ones retire, so now she is talking about her sexuality to a doctor who is her son’s age, and he wonders about the fact that this woman is as old as his mother, so why would she want to have sex. Food for thought right????
