Reasons against Cosmetic Surgery Procedures in Foreign Country

Going to foreign countries to have cosmetic surgical procedures and treatments done is becoming more popular for a few different reasons. Some people go overseas because of a lower price in some countries. Others may decide to go to a foreign country to give the cover of a vacation, because they do not want anyone to know they are having cosmetic surgery. No matter what the reason is, leaving the United States and traveling to a foreign country for cosmetic surgery is foolish at best, and can be dangerous or even life ending at the worst. Many people may not realize it, but many foreign countries have very relaxed rules about who can practice medicine, and sometimes there may not even be any rules or laws concerning liscensing. This means you may be placing yourself at a much higher risk of surgery with many complications, including bleeding or infection that may lead to death. In some countries medications and medical supplies are in short supply, leading to these products being purchased on the black markets and risking unsafe, diluted, or even fake medications.

Some foreign countries have no standards or regulations, or very limited standards for hygiene, infection control and prevention, and sterilization techniques used to ensure no contamination from microorganisms to the surgical site. Many foreign countries have imposters, people who pose as legitimate surgeons, and do it very well. You do not realize you have been taken until you wake up with horrible results and a big financial loss. In America, surgeons must be licensed, ensuring that they have received an adequate education and training under other doctors to diagnose and treat patients. They must also constantly keep current with new research breakthroughs and technologies. This allows you to be sure that the surgeon you choose meets the minimum requirements to do so. You should be completely comfortable with all aspects of your surgical experience, and it should happen in a clean sterile environment with regulated and quality medication and treatment, with the lowest possible risk of complications. A lot of foreign doctors and surgeons are not required to carry professional malpractice insurance in other countries, in case they make a mistake and hurt a patient. If you are going to have cosmetic surgery done, the United States is the safest and best way to do it. Find a highly qualified surgeon in this country, and the cost will be comparable after you figure in air fare, lodging, and meals.
