The Male’s Guide to Labiaplasty Recovery

The title on this article is not a typo; I want to discuss labiaplasty with men.  Specifically, the recovery. And more specifically, I want to discuss with you the part you can play in helping your wife or sexual partner have a successful, stress-free recovery following her labiaplasty surgery.

Labiaplasty is a short procedure.  Typically it’s done in an hour or, in rare instances, as much as two hours.  It’s an outpatient procedure, which means she will be coming immediately back home following the procedure.  However, because it is real surgery, your significant other will need opportunity to recuperate.  Here are some things you can do to make this go as smoothly as possible.

1)  Be there to pick her up.  Even though she’ll be fully awake following the procedure, she will likely experience some discomfort.  Nobody should be made to drive herself home after surgery, so either make the time in your schedule to pick her up, or arrange to have someone else do it for you.

2) One of your major tasks should be to prepare her bed area.  This will be her recovery area, and for at least a few days, she should spend most of her time there.  The object here is to keep as many things near her as possible that she’ll need and that will help her feel comfortable. Some suggestions for items to keep near her bed include loose-fitting clothing, one of her favorite books, some favorite magazines, a puzzle book, some writing paper and pen (She can catch up on any letters), a laptop computer, and a telephone (People will want to talk; this saves her the hassle of getting up to get the phone).

3) If she or the two of you have children, make arrangements for someone to pick up them up from school, and also to watch them. This could be you or perhaps their grandmother or some other trusted person.

4) And finally, be patient regarding sex.  The surgeon will likely tell your sex partner that she needs to wait about six weeks before resuming sex.  And as she gets back into the groove, she might be more limited in what she feels comfortable doing. So understand her discomfort and don’t pressure her to do anything she doesn’t feel like doing.

These four short suggestions will help you to help her recover successfully from the labiaplasty.  And it will you a hero in her eyes.
