Cost Of Labiaplasty

What Is The Total Cost Of Labiaplasty Surgery?

Many women have thought about having vaginoplasty labiaplasty surgery done, but did not follow through for any number of reasons. One reason for this inaction is worries about what these procedures involve and how long is the labiaplasty recovery. Understanding exactly what happens during this entire process can help reassure you, and get rid of any unfounded fears that prevent you from having this procedure done. If you are unhappy with the size or shape of your labia, either inner, outer, or both, there is something you can do to solve this issue. The first step in this process is a consultation with a plastic surgeon who has the education and experience to perform these procedures which in turn will ensure high quality results. Make sure all of your questions are answered about the doctor’s policies and procedures, and also that you are comfortable with the surgeon you choose. You must feel at ease with your surgeon and you must feel that you are on the same wave length and you must have confidence in his/her abilities to perform the surgery.

During the consultation you will determine whether vaginoplasty labiaplasty is the right choice for you. The surgeon will discuss any concerns you have and any changes you would like to make to your labia and vaginal tissueyou’re your preferences at the final appearance. The type of anesthesia you will have during the procedure will also be discussed. You can have either an I.V. Conscious sedation and local anesthetic or a general anesthetic so that you are completely unaware of the procedure. This is a decision you and the surgeon will make together, and it will take into account your wishes and medical history. Unless medically unadvisable because of a medical condition, you can usually have general anesthesia if you choose. Many women choose this option due to fears and nervousness about the procedure, but it usually costs a little more.

During this initial visit discuss the recovery process, restrictions to your activities, and postoperative care. You will also need to decide whether you will need lodging and someone to take care of you post operatively like a friend or a member of your family or a nurse especially if you live alone and far from the surgery center. The vaginoplasty labiaplasty surgery is a relatively easy recovery however, since you will have sedation that day you will need to have a caretaker that day and night after the procedure. The reason is that you may be a bit dizzy or sleepy after the procedure and will need someone to administer your medication and help you walk around if you feel wobbly. Some people feel nauseas after sedation and would like to have someone around. Some patients want or need this care, and several top quality surgical centers and surgeons can arrange for this care during the labiaplasty recovery period. This is normally done in a good quality hotel, with a Registered Nurse available to provide the care needed.

On the day you are scheduled for vaginoplasty labiaplasty surgery, you will come to the outpatient surgical center at the time you are scheduled to. You will be asked to fill out forms, and answer or confirm medical questions to ensure the best treatment for your case. You will be asked to change into the surgical apparel, and you will be given a bed to rest in. An I.V. will be started, and you may be given some medications to help you relax. You will meet your anesthesiologist and your surgeon and will have another opportunity to ask any last minute questions. Right before your scheduled surgery, your anesthesia will be administered, usually in the operating room. The procedure will normally take from one to two hours depending on what needs to be done, and then you will spend about an hour in the recovery area, where a nurse will assess you and provide any medications ordered or needed. You will normally be given antibiotics and pain medications to take at home. In approximately one week you may return to work as long as you do not lift heavy objects or keep a hectic pace. Three weeks after surgery you can resume normal activities except for sexual activity, and the stitches should have dissolved by this time. After six weeks you can resume intimate relations and should be completely healed.
