What is Cosmetic Surgery Vaginoplasty, Who Needs it, and What are the Benefits?
Cosmetic surgery vaginoplasty is a surgical procedure done to repair and rejuvenate the vaginal walls and opening. This operation will improve any structural weaknesses or problems in the vaginal opening, the vaginal canal, or both. Cosmetic vagina surgery can include a number of procedures intended to improve both the look and function of the vagina. As you age, the muscles in your vaginal walls may become more lax or out of shape. Childbirth can also cause the vaginal opening to become larger. Previous injuries or procedures, such as an episiotomy during childbirth, can prevent the vaginal muscles from tightening properly. Sometimes there is a congenital deformity of the vaginal opening or vault that may require this surgery to repair and replace any damaged or missing tissue. In rare circumstances a skin graft may be necessary to replace tissue during these procedures, but this rarely happens, and then only in certain serious circumstances.
Cosmetic surgery vaginoplasty can include tightening up the vaginal muscles, to create a smaller opening and vaginal vault. This is done by surgically tightening all of the muscles that are located around the entrance and walls of your vagina. If the problem is ineffective or inefficient muscle control due to scar tissue from previous procedures or injuries, it may be possible to just cut through these adhesions, remove them and then use the healthy remaining muscles to tighten the vagina canal and entrance. Often you are first urged to tighten the muscles naturally with exercises specifically intended for this purpose, like Kiegel exercises. Many times these exercises alone are not enough though.
When you have cosmetic surgery vaginoplasty, the procedure is normally done on an outpatient basis, in an outpatient surgical center. The surgeon will tighten your vaginal muscles by pulling and then cutting away excess tissue. The remaining tissue is attached together, leaving a smaller opening and much tighter vaginal muscles. Any women who has given birth, or has vaginal laxity or scar tissue due to aging or injury, can benefit from cosmetic surgery vagina procedures. After the surgery you will be given medications to prevent infection and control pain during your recovery, and you will normally spend one to two hours in the operating room during the surgery, and then approximately one hour in the recovery room.
Cosmetic surgery vaginoplasty offers several benefits. You will look and feel more desirable and confident, you and your partner will enjoy the intimacy more because of the snugger fit and increased friction, and your vaginal muscle tightness will be comparable to when you were younger before giving birth for the first time. The cost of this type of surgery is very reasonable, ranging from three or four thousand dollars up to six or seven thousand dollars, depending on the surgeon, the surgery center, any complications, the area you live in, and the amount of work and time required to address your specific problems and cosmetic concerns.
