Unwanted Body Hair? Consider Laser Hair Removal

Laser Hair Removal

Are you tired of dealing with unwanted body hair that constantly requires you to pluck, shave, or wax to remove it? Many people have undergone safe laser hair removal procedures to permanently unshackle themselves from the need to perform these tedious activities. Even though laser hair removal is extremely safe, you will still need some solid information about the treatment so that you can make an informed decision.

Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is a procedure that utilizes a laser to destroy hair follicles producing unwanted body hair. It also helps treat areas like the face, arms, underarms, legs, and bikini area. Only a few treatment sessions are all that is required to permanently remove unwanted body hair in the area of treatment.

How It Works

Every hair on your body is produced by a hair follicle, which is a structure that is embedded within your skin. Each hair contains melanin, a pigment that gives it its color. The laser will target melanin, which absorbs the laser light energy, destroying the hair follicle and its ability to produce unwanted hair.

Who It Treats

Those who respond best tend to be those with dark, coarse hair. This is because they have more melanin present in their hair to attract the laser. However, technology is always changing, and some patients with light-colored hair may still benefit from the procedure. We can help make this determination at your initial consultation.

Multiple Treatments

Patients typically require anywhere from three to seven laser hair removal treatment sessions to permanently remove unwanted body hair. Individual hairs grow in staggered growth phases. Only a hair follicle in its growth phase can be treated. Since some hair follicles will be in a growth phase at the time of treatment while others are in a dormant phase, multiple sessions are necessary to catch each and every follicle when it can be treated.
