Labiaplasty Statistics

Some Informative Labiaplasty Statistics

Labiaplasty is a cosmetic surgery procedure which involves contouring and reducing the size of the inner labia, the outer labia, or both. This procedure may be performed for a number of different reasons, some medical and some cosmetic, and this procedure has some interesting and informative labiaplasty statistics that go along with it. Some women have this procedure done because of injury or birth defects that occur n this area, causing damage that needs to be repaired for normal function. Some women may have unusually large labia, either the inner or outer set, and large labia minora can occur due to childbirth and aging, as well as being born this way. The labia can actually get in the way and cause discomfort or pain when sitting or exercising, and this is the reason for the procedure. Other women may suffer from embarrassment because of intimate situations with their partner or labia that are visible through snug clothing.

Whatever the reason is that you want this procedure done, labiaplasty statistics show that you are not alone. Sixty six percent of women who wanted this procedure done stated either embarrassment or discomfort due to large labia, and only twelve percent of patients who underwent a labiaplasty did so for medical reasons instead of cosmetic reasons. Only four percent of these procedures were considered medically necessary and covered by health insurance, with the other ninety six percent of patients using either a cash payment or a financing or payment plan available, to make regular easy and convenient payments.

Labiaplasty is the third most common cosmetic procedure requested in many areas. For patients who have had the procedure, more than ninety five percent have reported being very happy with both the experience and the results seen. Complications occur in around three percent of all cases, and most of these are mild and easily treated right away. Four percent of these surgery patients require an overnight stay in the hospital due to complications. More than ninety six percent of all these procedures are done in an outpatient surgical center, with the remainder occurring in the hospital due to certain medical conditions or circumstances, such as an emergency injury.

Scientists use statistics to show that the rise in popularity of labiaplasty can be correlated to the rise in revealing clothing and underwear, as well as adult entertainment becoming more popular and widespread. In actuality, the female labia and vagina comes in many different shapes, sizes, and colors, however if you are self conscious or embarrassed about how your labia looks than this can affect the way you feel about yourself and being intimate with your partner. Having this procedure done if you want your labia to be more appealing can be a way for you to become confident in your appeal again, and can help change the way you feel about yourself and intimacy. It is possible to have the labia you want, instead of the labia that either childbirth, aging, or injury has given you.
