Oncoplastic Breast Reconstruction
Oncoplastic surgery is a relatively new approach to breast reconstruction which reconstructs the breast immediately after a lumpectomy. Traditionally, breast reconstruction is done in two phases – a breast surgeon will first surgically remove the cancer and than a plastic surgeon would cosmetically reconstruct the breast. Oncoplastic breast reconstruction is a new approach that combines the oncology, or cancer removal aspect, with plastic surgery to restore the breast simultaneously.
