Reasons to Get a Breast Reduction in Hackensack

Breast Reduction

Breast Reduction

Hollywood and celebrity magazines may have you believe that every woman should want the largest possible bust. When it comes to real life, though, not every woman is happy to be endowed with a large chest. Some women are unable to lead the lifestyle they want due to the movement of the excess breast tissues. There are several valid reasons a woman may choose to have a breast reduction, all of which should be carefully considered before the surgery is performed.

Reduction or Cessation of Back Discomfort

Our spines can be surprisingly sensitive to our weight. Gaining or losing even ten pounds can leave you with a backache, so it’s no surprise that a woman carrying around a pair of large breasts may experience back discomfort as a result. If the lady in question isn’t particularly concerned with the size of her breasts, a reduction can alleviate some or even eliminate some of this discomfort without the need for ongoing medication or a back brace.

A More Active Lifestyle

Having larger breasts may hinder a woman from having a more active lifestyle. The movement of the breast tissue can be painful, resulting in her refraining from such activities. Seeking a reduction in breast tissue may allow you to return to these activities without the pain you once felt. A breast reduction can also lead to more time spent standing due to a decrease in back pain that is associated with larger breasts.

Easier Cancer Screenings

No one likes to think about the possibility of breast cancer, but it’s a fact that earlier detection raises a woman’s chances of long-term survival. In general, the larger a woman’s breasts are, the harder it is to get a clear image during a mammogram or to palpate lumps and other changes to the tissue. If a woman has a history of breast cancer in her family, it may ease her mind to have a reduction so she can easily feel all of her breast tissue during her self-exams.

Deciding to have a breast reduction may be counter to what society says is ideal, but it’s a practical choice women make for a variety of reasons. If you have large breasts and are not happy with them, call or contact our office today to schedule your consultation. At Colen MD Plastic Surgery, we look forward to helping you achieve your aesthetic and practical goals.
